Denise J. Hanson, Psy.D.

Dr. Hanson works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her clinical practice at Wilmington CareNet specializes in the following areas:

Dr. Hanson completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 1975 at Merrimack College, North Andover, MA. She earned her Master of Science degree in clinical psychology in 1977 at Fort Hays University, Hays, KS. Continuing her graduate studies, Dr. Hanson earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies degree in counseling psychology, with an emphasis in family therapy in 1984, at Assumption College, Worcester, MA. She completed her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1996 at Antioch University New England, Keene, NH. Dr. Hanson completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, where she trained in child and adolescent services, neuropsychology, and learning evaluations of children.
Dr. Hanson is currently licensed in both Massachusetts and North Carolina and is a member of The National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, The American Psychological Association, The North Carolina Psychological Association, and The Cape Fear Psychological Association. Dr. Hanson is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Christian Ministries degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte, North Carolina campus. Dr. Hanson moved to Wilmington from the Boston area in 1999. She opened the Center for Integrated Health Care, PC with her husband, Russell Gerry, MD, in 2000; and opened Mentoring Minds for Mental Health, PLLC in 2006.
Dr. Hanson moved her practice to Wilmington CareNet Counseling in November 2014. Dr. Hanson's schedule allows for early morning through late afternoon appointments Monday through Wednesday, and morning appointments on Thursday.
